Zinc PLating

Zinc plating is a process wherein a thin layer of zinc metal is deposited onto a metal substrate via electrodeposition. This zinc coating is a physical barrier to prevent rust from reaching the underlying metal surface, making zinc an ideal material for combating corrosion.
Zinc plating comes in many colors, and The most commonly used passivate is silver-blue, which has a bright silver appearance with a faint blue tinge and is used extensively on Japanese, European, and British bikes. Yellow or gold is another popular finish used in fastener brackets etc. A highly decorative finish giving a shiny or dull golden-yellow appearance can be formulated to give an iridium petrol look as well. Additionally, the zinc black finish has been frequently used on Japanese bikes from the early 1980s onwards. At Road Track Trials, we have developed various techniques to restore original fasteners to their former glory.
